What is a TREK?

A trek is defined as  any firm visits that require more than 2-hours of travel time. 

When do TREKS occur?

  • Treks occur during multiple times of the year usually on weekends and during breaks.
  • Treks must occur during approved programming dates and times, and not during blackout periods. 
    • Note that treks may occur during spring break and winter break with approval from OSA & CMC.

  • OSA: Your OSA Advisor can assist with:
    • Trek planning to ensure your club is planning within approved programming dates and times as well as avoiding blackout periods
    • Assistance with student travel procedures
  • CMC:  Your CMC Advisor can assist with:
    • Support with company relationship experts
    • CMC Advisor participation
    • Trek planning itineraries 
  • FPO: Your FPO Partner can assist with: 
    • Travel costs (hotel, airB&B, taxi/uber/lyft, flights, etc.)
    • Contract processing for on-site dinners

Approved TREK Benefits

  • All treks must be approved by OSA & CMC to be considered official
  • Approved treks can use club budgets to help supplement trek expenses (travel, food, etc.) in accordance with financial policies and procedures
  • Approved treks can receive complete support through CMC that includes company connections, itinerary building support, and on-site assistance
  • Approved treks can be promoted via official CBS communication channels such as CampusGroups

Approval Timeline

Note that treks should not be advertised until approval is received.

  • Click here to review the submission process and apply for your trek.
  • Friday. June 7, 2024 (Fall 2024 & January 2025 trek dates) 
  • Friday, October 4, 2024 (Spring 2025 trek dates) 
  • Completion of required initial meeting and date submission by the VP of Treks will determine eligibility to continue planning. Please use the Trek Planning Checklist to determine your planning timeline. 

Upon approval, all treks must be submitted through your CampusGroups portal. 

VP OF TREKS ON-BOARDING

All newly elected VPs of Treks are required to complete their on-boarding checklist.

Upon being notified by OSA of your checklist being assigned, you may access it by taking the following steps:

  1. Log into CampusGroups
  2. Click on "My Checklists" on the left side menu
  3. Review Checklist & complete items listed

Note that all assigned trainings and on-boarding requirements must be completed by the established deadline date. Clubs without fully completed checklists will be unable to continue trek planning.
