Student organization officers are fully responsible for reviewing and understanding CBS and Columbia University resources, policies and procedures. Please reach out to your OSA Cluster Advisor in the event you have questions. Sanctions may be applied to student organizations when policy breaches occur.

A cluster is a group formed at the beginning of the Columbia Business School experience. Students are grouped together based on various elements of their personal, education, and career background. In addition to taking core classes together, clusters serve as a community that provides academic, social, and professional support. Each cluster is assigned with an Academic Advisor and Student Life and Engagement Advisor that advise them throughout their time at Columbia Business School.

Each MBA cluster board consists of the following two year positions:

  • Cluster Chair
  • Chief of Staff
  • Academic Rep
  • Career Rep
  • Global Citizenship Rep
  • Inclusive Engagement Rep
  • Community Rep
  • Events Rep

MBA Cluster Board elections are facilitated by the Office of Student Affairs:

  • First year Fall Cluster Board elections occur in September
  • First year J-Term Cluster Board elections occur in February

*Second year cluster board elections or appointments occur on an as needed basis if roles become vacant.

All newly elected MBA Cluster Board officers are provided training and resources shortly after being elected.

  • Fall MBA Cluster Board training occurs in September
  • J-Term MBA Cluster Board training occurs in February

Each cluster board officer is provided an administrative advisor/partner that they will work with throughout their leadership experience.

EMBA Cluster Board elections are facilitated by the Office of Student Affairs:

EMBA NEW YORK

  • First year Saturday cohort cluster board elections occur in May
  • First year Friday/Saturday cohort cluster board elections occur in September

EMBA GLOBAL

  • First year Global cohort cluster board elections occur in June

*Second year cluster board elections or appointments occur on an as needed basis if roles become vacant.

All newly elected EMBA Cluster Board officers are provided training and resources shortly after being elected.

  • Saturday cohort EMBA NY Cluster Board Training occurs in June
  • Friday/Saturday cohort EMBA NY Cluster Board training occurs in September
  • EMBA Global Cohort Cluster Board training occurs in June

Each cluster board officer is provided an administrative advisor/partner that they will work with throughout their leadership experience. Note that for EMBA Global, officers are also provided a London Business School partner as well.

  • The roles above are designed for the MS in Accounting & Fundamental Analysis (MSAFA), the MS in Financial Economics (MSFE) and the MS in Marketing Science (MSM)
  • Each role is filled for the duration of each program above
